Parkinson's support group at Oasis - working together

The Parkinson’s Program at Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing is designed to help patients with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s and other movement disorders get a more personalized and exclusive treatment plan.

Parkinson’s Disease Rehab Program:

  • LSVT BIG (Parkinson’s treatment) certified therapists
  • LSVT LOUD (Parkinson’s treatment) certified therapists
  • Physical therapy and Occupational therapy
  • Speech and Swallow therapy
  • Onsite FEES (Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) swallow testing
  • Individual and group therapy sessions
  • Parkinson’s Education
  • State of the art equipment and gym including Parkinson’s specific equipment
  • Rock Steady Boxing Certified therapist

Interdisciplinary Care and Individualized Program:

  • Board Certified Neurologist onsite
  • Board Certified Physiatrist onsite
  • Psychological services
  • 24-hour nursing care and Medication management
  • Specially trained Certified Nursing Assistants
  • therapeutic Recreation and Music therapy
  • Individualized diet plans and nutrition counseling
  • Discharge planning for community reintegration
  • Communication and updates with your Community Neurologist/Physician
  • Caregiver and family training
  • Support group held by clinicians trained in specific Parkinson’s Disease treatment interventions
  • Learn compensatory strategies to overcome some of the physical symptoms as it relates to Parkinson’s Disease
  • Learn about new research as it relates to Parkinson’s Disease
  • Socialize and conversate with others affected by Parkinson’s Disease who share some of the same daily challenges

Oasis is now an official Rock Steady Boxing Affiliate. Not only do we have Rock Steady Boxing classes as part of your in-patient rehab, we also hold a monthly FREE Rock Steady Boxing class that is open to community members. Sherry VigliottiSherry Vigliotti COTA/L our Parkinson’s Disease Program Directors has over 24 years of clinical experience in the inpatient, geriatric, and short-term rehab populations, including people with Parkinson’s Disease. Sherry is a certified Rock Steady Boxing coach, LSVT Big certified and holds certifications in Chair/Adaptive Yoga, Yin Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation. She is also certified anxiety informed professional.

She is active in Parkinson’s Foundation, APDA, Michael J Fox foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and Davis Phinney Foundation. Sherry is active on Parkinson’s forums, stays up to date with latest research, technology, latest treatment strategies and medications.

Sherry has developed programs for both patients and caregivers, and is passionate about restoring function and improving the quality of life of her patients. Most recently, she has helped develop our inpatient Parkinson’s program at Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing.
